Finally myself completely engrossed in this fantastic New Yorker article yesterday. It's about the economy and how we found ourselves in this predicament we're in. The article's not online, just an abstract, but I heartily recommend running to your newstand to buy a May 18 issue. It's probably one of the most comprehensive and insightful articles I've ever read on the subject. And one that really takes not just the bankers and the stockbrokers to task but everybody else, too, even us, for ignoring signs that were plainly there: Stories about how our nation barely saves but spends a lot; people with very little income buying houses to flip; our own mounting personal debt.
